A Shari’a Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna state on Monday dissolved a 45 year-old union between Ilani Alhaji and Halima Ilani over alleged infidelity.
The Judge, Malam Anas Khalifa, confirmed the one pronouncement of divorce made by the defendant after effort to settle out of court proved abortive.
Earlier, the complainant prayed court to dissolve her union with Alhaji saying he accused her of cheating in the presence of their children.
She said that the complainant had not been exercising his duty as a husband for 20 years, a situation she had to endure for the sake of their children.
“I am now old and I don’t have energy for these kinds of things; what pains me the most is him suspecting me of cheating.
“I am no longer interested in this marriage”, she said.
