The Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, commended the governor for nominating a non-indigene into his cabinet, noting that competence should take precedence over origin.

“What matters is quality and efficiency, not where one comes from.

“From what we have heard from the nominee and his credentials, we are optimistic that he will work with the governor to develop Edo State,” he said.

Other lawmakers, in their separate contributions, also praised the governor for prioritising service delivery above ethnic considerations.

Igbo leaders in the state, who attended the session in solidarity with the nominee, described him as a versatile and goal-oriented individual.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oli is a businessman and community leader from Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He is an established entrepreneur and has built a reputation as a community advocate within Edo’s Igbo community, supporting grassroots development initiatives and programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities.
