Mason Greenwood’s Manchester United team-mates would support his return to the squad, according to the UK Sun.
Since the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape and assault against the 21-year-old, the Premier League team has been conducting an internal inquiry for the previous six months.
After being arrested in January 2022, Greenwood has been suspended by United for the last 18 months.
Since then, he has not played for the Red Devils or trained at Carrington.
But his teammates believe he deserves a second chance.
A senior source said: “All the players believe he deserves a second chance because he’s innocent in the eyes of the law.
“He didn’t have the opportunity to clear his name in court because the charges were dropped, so the players feel like he has been left in limbo.
“They know it will be difficult but they are willing to support him through it, and protect him.”
