Reps Majority Leader, Julius Ihonvbere Loses APC Primary

Professor Julius Ihonvbere, the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, has been defeated in the All Progressive Congress House of Representatives primary election for the Owan Federal Constituency.

The election conducted on Saturday had former Commissioner for Mining, Hon Andrew Ijegbai as the winner.

The result was announced shortly after the exercise by the returning officer is the election, Kelvin Muhammed.

According to Vanguard, the former commissioner scored 3695 votes to defeat the incumbent lawmaker, who scored 1,005 votes.

In his response, Ijegbai commended the party executive for embarking on a transparent exercise and promised to represent the people well if elected at the general election.

“The scores are as follows, Honorable Andrew Ijegbia scored 3,695 votes. Honorable Abdul Oroh scored 1,740 votes while Professor Julius Ihonvbere scored 1,005 votes.

“Honourable Folly scored 505 votes. Barrister Scot scored 642 votes. Total vote cast is 7,587 and the winner of this contest which is the primary is Hon. Andrew Ijegbai”, the returning officer said.
