Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with Special Operations Forces, have rescued 360 civilians, mostly women and children, who were abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The development was contained in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to Makama, the rescue operation was carried out on June 6 across several locations around the Mandara Mountains following a coordinated military offensive.

According to sources, Special Operations Forces first carried out preliminary actions that disrupted terrorists activities in the area, creating confusion within their camps.

This, they said, allowed ground troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade to move in and successfully rescue the abducted civilians.

“The victims were reportedly abducted during an attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026,” Makama wrote.

However, the operation recorded a tragic incident as two infants died during the rescue due to the difficult terrain encountered while evacuating the victims.

The rescued persons were immediately taken for medical checks, while those in need of urgent care were treated by military medical personnel and later moved to the General Hospital in Gwoza.

They were also provided with food and water before being kept at a secure facility pending further arrangements to be reunited with their families.

Security sources described the operation as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist networks and rescue civilians held in captivity in the North-East.
