Soldiers attached to Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, have stepped into a communal conflict involving the Agbaka and Anyiase communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Security sources revealed that troops stationed in Ukpiam were deployed around 12:10 p.m. on May 1 after reports emerged of renewed hostilities between the two communities.

According to the sources, by the time the security team arrived at the troubled area, a number of houses had already been torched by the attackers, who escaped before troops could engage them.

The sources further stated that the soldiers quickly launched a pursuit of the fleeing suspects along their escape route, though no arrests had been recorded at the time of filing this report.
