Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Sept 21 governorship election in Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said that it is an abomination for anyone to fight the Oba of Benin openly and later goes behind to seek forgiveness.

that the “Oba Ewuare ll is our father in Edo State and must be given the highest honour at all times. He also said that anyone fighting him is fighting all Edo citizens.
The APC governorship candidate made the pledge at a Town Hall engagement he had with the Edo in Diaspora at the Western Hotel Lanham, Maryland, United States.
Okpebholo told his hosts that as governor, the Oba of Benin would be accorded all that are traditionally and statutorily due to him and the Palace.
Speaking on the current face-off between the Edo State Government and some Enigie one side against the Benin Traditional Council, the APC flagbearer said: “I am against and condemn any form of disrespect against the Oba by anyone – be it government or the Enigie – because all of being the Oba’s subjects must hold him in high regard
“It is an abomination for any any child to fight his father in the public, undress his father in a market place and thereafter goes to the house to be apologising or be begging for forgiveness.
“This will not happen under my watch adms governor of Edo State. Anyone fighting the Oba, who is our father, does not mean well for the state”, he added.
The Senator used the opportunity of the engagement to intimidate his hosts about his plans for the state in the areas of health, education, job creation, security, agriculture, among others.
