Gov Okpebholo Inaugurates 3 Governing Councils in Edo

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo on Wednesday inaugurated governing councils for Edo State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Edo State University, Iyamho, and Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) Service Commission.

Okpebholo, while inaugurating the three governing councils in Benin, charged them to discharge their duties with utmost professionalism.

He emphasised that the task before the newly-inaugurated bodies was enormous and urged them to work within the ambit of the law.

“We are here today because my administration has carefully selected those we are inaugurating to collaborate with us in piloting the affairs of the state.

“We have chosen great minds to lead the affairs of the Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission, believing they will bring the required change to Edo,” he said.

Addressing the governing council of the Edo State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, led by its Chairman, Mr Theophilus Egbodion, the governor assured of equal treatment for all citizens.

“There is no discrimination in this administration. We are one working to develop Edo. Your challenges were not created by you, and we will support you,” he said.

The governor stated that the choice of members of the governing council of Edo State University, Iyamho, led by Prof. Olusegun Akinyinka was a deliberate move to bring credible leaders to the school.

“Your selection is intentional as we believe your experience will help the university thrive. Today marks a new beginning for the institution,” Okpebholo added.

In their separate acceptance speeches, the chairmen of the inaugurated councils, thanked the governor for their appointments and the opportunity to serve the state.

They promised to support the administration, collaborate effectively, and ensure the success of their respective councils.(NAN)
