JUST IN | Okpebholo Wins again as FCT High Court Affirms His Eligibility to Contest Sept 21 Election

The Court presided over by Hon. Justice Charles Agbaza, in his judgment held that Senator Okpebholo's Originating Motion had merit and accordingly granted the three substantive reliefs.

An FCT High Court sitting in Maitama Abuja on Friday morning affirmed the eligibility of Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor-elect as a candidate in the September 21st 2024 governorship election in Edo State.

 

The Court presided over by Hon. Justice Charles Agbaza, in his judgment held that Senator Okpebholo’s Originating Motion had merit and accordingly granted the three substantive reliefs.

Ruling on whether Senator Monday Okpebholo the Governor-elect of Edo State gave false information and documents to INEC in respect of his eligibility to contest the September 21st 2024 Edo governorship election.

The case filed as Suit No. M/12340/2024, sought for judicial review of a criminal summons and pre-election proceedings commenced against Senator Okpebholo by one Honesty Aginbatse, a PDP Chieftain at a Wuse Magistrate’s Court.

The hearing of the substantive matter took place on the 4th of November 2024. The reliefs sought included an order of Certiorari quashing the criminal summons and an Order of Prohibition restraining the 2nd respondent, the Magistrate from conducting further proceedings on the matter.
