Osun Osogbo Festival: Police Assure of Safety

The annual cultural event is expected to attract numerous tourists and dignitaries from across Nigeria and abroad, with a series of traditional activities planned throughout the day.

Osun State Police Command has announced comprehensive security measures for the grand finale of the 2025 Osun Osogbo Festival.

The grand finale of the festival, will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025.

The annual cultural event is expected to attract numerous tourists and dignitaries from across Nigeria and abroad, with a series of traditional activities planned throughout the day.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the command assured residents and tourists of a peaceful celebration.

“The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, is using this medium to inform the general public of the level of preparedness and stringent security apparatus emplaced by the command,” the statement read.

The statement also assured that to ensure public safety, the Police Command has ordered the deployment of tactical units, additional personnel, and logistics support across strategic locations in the Osogbo metropolis.

“He has equally emplaced a unit of Mobile Police personnel on standby in case of any eventuality,” the statement added.

Parents and guardians were urged to warn their children and wards against acts of hooliganism, thuggery, or gangsterism, which will not be tolerated during the celebration.

“Any person or group of persons found in possession of arms or any offensive weapon/instrument of violence will be arrested and prosecuted,” the command warned.

The police appealed to members of the public to provide timely and credible information regarding any suspicious activity through a dedicated control room and Complaint Response Unit, CRU, numbers.
